WIP Lady E

Here is my progress so far on my Lady E. I'm using Noro SG in 208 on 4.5 mm needles. I'm not sure if I'll have enough (I bought 10 skeins) to make it the length called for in the pattern. For all those of you who've made the Lady E with these specs, how many skeins did you use? I'm sure I can make it larger during blocking, but just to be on the safe side I was curious as to how much everyone else used. Thanks!

Turtleneck Shrug Question

I'm working on the Turtleneck Shrug, and have a quick question. On the sleeves, which way should I slip the stitches for the selvedge, knitwise or purlwise? Thanks for your help! I'm loving everyone's beautiful pictures!

My Lady E

One more Lady Eleanor. I haven't seen one I haven't liked, everyone has done such a beautiful job, and each picture makes me want to do another.
The specs:
1. Noro Silk Garden alternating rows between colours 211 and 225 on US size 9 needles.
2. Embarrassed to admit it - I used 17 skeins, most from E-Bay and a 40% off sale.
3. Never one to follow a pattern as written, I made this one 25% larger than specified - in the width.
4. Instead of woven fringe on the short ends, I crocheted the long edge and added fringe a la Charlotte's Web.
5. Not wanting to crush the three dimensional woven look, I decided not to block it. Besides I wouldn't want to subject it to our murky water right now.

Finally get to show Lady Eleanor off in her completed stage. In her unblocked state Lady E measures 24"x60" and I think I'll keep her like that since the size fits me well. Using size 8 needles she took 10 1/2 skeins of Paton's SWS. I decided against the fringe since the yarn ends were felting together and began looking rather nappy.

One full repeat - this is like a forced march!

Now, if I can only speed this up a bit. I am taking a break to knit some matching wristlets in a coordinating color. The wristlets are definitely for Christmas - the scarf can be for a February birthday. Who knows? I might build some speed up this Thanksgiving weekend.

Here and There Cables

First time cabler here: Hello everyone, I am happy to be a new member of the Scarf/Wrap Style Knit-Along. The yarn is Nature Wool Aran weight in shades of muted rose. I am using Bryspun Flex needles.

Nasty Dog Dragon Scarf

Several weeks ago my husband admitted he would like to get a scarf for Christmas. I handed him Scarf Style and hoped he would choose the Interlocking Balloons or maybe Here and There Cables.
I havent` made any project from this wonderful book and only knit one from the Wrap Style, the Shetland Triangle , so I was thrilled to start another one. Well, guess what he chose. The Dragon Scarf! I was shocked at first, but now I am really excited. I ordered some Knitpicks Merino Style in beautiful deep and warm colors and can`t wait to start.

Here's my glam mom, modelling her Lady Eleanor -- a Hanukah present I managed to finish early. Details here oysterknits. Next up, I have several FO's to share waiting for some decent photos...forbes forest, misty garden and vintage velvet.

Another new thing...

I attended an academic conference this weekend where I talked about lynching in the New South, dreamed about Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's new book Casts Off (due this spring!), and knit 9 repeats of Evelyn Clark's Shetland Triangle Shawl:



Every time I see finished shawls, I'm drawn to their beauty and fluidity. The pattern is unbelievably regular, straightforward, and steady. Right now I'm trying to convince my knitting husband to make a Shetland Triangle for his mother.

But I can't believe I started yet another project.... Is there ANY hope of finishing the castle sweater for NaKniSweMo?

Hi Everyone!!

I'm happy to be part of this KAL since ScarfStyle has many, many great projects I'd like to try. I purchased the book a couple of months ago after it became obvious that it needed to be part of my library since I was constantly checking out and renewing the copy from our public library. To say the least, it is one of my favorite books and right up my alley since one piece knitting is what I do best.

My latest and greatest has been Lady E and knitting her so far has been a treat. She is knit up in Patons SWS Natural Geranium and I increased the width by two squares. I am surprised at the number of compliments this Lady has gotten so far, that it was an additional incentive to keep clicking them needles. And the pattern is so easy anyone who can knit will have no problem knitting enterlac.

Interlocking balloons - one breath at a time

Although I picked out this pattern because of its lovely undulating pattern, I am a little disappointed in how hard it is to keep track of the pattern. I ditched the book and photocopied the pattern but I still need some underlining note to keep on track. Ick. Only about a zillion more repeats to go. But I do like the yarn - it's hand dyed alpaca and a soft seafoam green.

Lace Style - Coming in Spring 2007

Fantastic news! The third book in the Style series published by Interweave Press (you know, the inspiration for this fantastic knit-along) will be out in early 2007. Lace Style by Pam Allen and Ann Budd will feature over 20 designs for sweaters, scarves, shawls, hats, dresses, and more.

another misty garden

Hi, I'm happy to be a part of this knit along. I bought the Scarf Style book in order to knit the Backyard Leaves scarf after seeing so many beautiful finished ones here, but then ended up making the Misty Garden scarf first. I used 3 skeins of artyarns supermerino color #115 and size 7 needles. It's about 6 1/2 inches wide and about 50 inches long. This was the first time I knitted something and didn't have to keep track of row count or stitch count or anything. That was very nice. I memorized the pattern after about the first repeat, and then just knit to the end of my three skeins with very little thought. I know the Backyard Leaves scarf will be the opposite in that keeping track of my place in the pattern will take a lot of attention. I just bought the Wrap Style book and now I can't decide if I will do the Backyard leaves scarf next, or the Wandering Aran Fields capelet next. I'm leaning towards doing the capelet next.

Ruffled capelet on it's way

I've just started the ruffled capelet from Scarf Style. I intend to use several yarn types and colors, so it will not end up like in the book, but I hope it will still look good in the end. Progress will be reported!

Another (green) Backyard Leaves!

I've just finished my second project from Scarf Style, the Backyard Leaves scarf. Everyone and their mother/sister/aunt has made this scarf, and the reason is clear. It's an easy to follow pattern and produces a lovely scarf. This one is for my mother for Christmas. It was supposed to be for Christmas last year, but I only got about halfway through it and was frustrated because I wasn't doing my yarnovers properly. So, almost a year later I ripped out what I had and began again, and this time around I ended up with proper holes in my knitting. The scarf flew off the needles - I used almost exactly 4 skeins of Knit Picks Andean Silk (in leaf). In fact, I had to cut out one repeat of the second half of the scarf so I wouldn't run out of yarn. As others have noted, this scarf turns out quite long. It's deceptive in fact, because as you're knitting it doesn't seem that long at all, and then when you sew the pieces together and block it becomes enormous! I love it, and can't wait to make another one for myself, probably in deep red. I'm not sure what my next Scarf Style project will be...maybe Midwest Moonlight, but whatever it is it'll have to wait until after the holiday gift knitting is finished! Another Turtleneck Shrug!

Hi! I'm Nicole and I just started the Turtleneck Shrug. I've got one sleeve mostly done, the shrug would completely done except I'm working on several Christmas gifts right now. I love this color, and the yarn is Red Heart Soft Yarn, it feels really nice. I'll post more pics here and on my blog, Nicole Knits as I get more progess on it. :)
