Nasty Dog Dragon Scarf

Several weeks ago my husband admitted he would like to get a scarf for Christmas. I handed him Scarf Style and hoped he would choose the Interlocking Balloons or maybe Here and There Cables.
I havent` made any project from this wonderful book and only knit one from the Wrap Style, the Shetland Triangle , so I was thrilled to start another one. Well, guess what he chose. The Dragon Scarf! I was shocked at first, but now I am really excited. I ordered some Knitpicks Merino Style in beautiful deep and warm colors and can`t wait to start. Posted by Picasa

Dragon as Vest... finished!

Hi there!
Just wanted to share my "Nasty Dog Dragon" vest, finished this weekend. The colors are different, and there's a little fire coming out of her mouth, but otherwise I stayed true to the pattern. (Oh, except it's on a vest, not a scarf.) It's done in Lavold's "Silky Wool." My son, Zack (aka "Brave Sir Zack") is the model. We have a whole series of bedtime stories about "Brave Sir Zack" and his dragon "Ruby." Hence the color change on the pattern. This was REALLY FUN. It's easier than you think, because many of the blocks of color are so small you need only a short strand of yarn, rather than a tangly bobbin. LOT of ends, but it's worth it.

Nasty Dog Dragon

Hello! Has anyone made this scarf? I was at a dinner last night for Chinese New Year and found out that my year is the Dragon. So since this is the year of the Dog I thought I might try this scarf. Of course after pricing the yarn suggested and seeing it's over $100 I think it's time for a substitution! I'm looking at Knit Picks but for anyone who has done this, what yarn did you use? Were you pleased with the results? Any problems? Does the size work for you? Eleven inches seems quite wide.
