Chevron Scarf ????
OK.. I am having a problem here with the chevron scarf on page 33...
I tried it about 5 times already.. Changing this and changing that..
I can not get the stitches and the pattern as it is written to work out...
I CO the 39 sts .. Knit 1 row..
Then do the Chevron Pattern as it is written on page 33.. NO No ..It does not work out!!
The first row is OK.. But now PLEASE someone.. Do the Second row and tell me what happens!!!
I frogged it five times already because I did not work to the correct amount of stitches..
It will only take you a couple of minutes... Just tell me what the Heck is wrong with the second Chevron Row...
HELP !!!
Anxiously waiting.....
THanks

The stitch count for this pattern changes every row, which might be part of your problem.
Row 1 is a multiple of 12 + 15 (39 sts), decreasing to a multiple of 10 sts + 13 (33 sts).
Row 2 is a multiple of 10 sts + 3 (33 sts), increasing to a multiple of 12 sts + 3 (39 sts).
If you are using stitch markers between the repeats, you might want to remove them. This pattern borrows and lends sts between the repeats because of the double decreases, and the markers will just throw you off.
Here's another way of looking at what's happening between the two pattern rows.
Row 1:
K1, ssk (3 sts dec'd to 2 sts)
[k9, double decrease] 2 times (24 sts dec'd to 20 sts)
k9 (no change, balances the pattern)
k2tog, k1 (3 sts dec'd to 2 sts).
39 sts decreased to 33 sts
Row 2:
K1, (no change)
*p1, k4, [k1, yo, k1] worked all in same st, k4; rep from * three times total (30 sts inc'd to 36 sts; the center 1 st in each k9 from Row 1 inc's to 3 sts; the p1 of each rep should be directly over the k2tog at the end of Row 1 or over a double decrease from Row 1)
p1, k1 (no change; the p1 should be directly over the ssk at the beginning of Row 1)
33 sts increased to 39 sts
