The new Blogger

The new Blogger is now out of beta, meaning that accounts will be switched as support for them is available; those of you with larger blogs with a lot of comments will not be able to switch to the new version yet.

At this time, since this is such a large blog, this knit-along can't be converted. According to Blogger, if you switch to the new version, you will still be able to access this group, but it will still be in the old format. You will not be able to use the features of the new Blogger with this particular blog.

When this blog does switch to the new version, you will NOT be able to access it unless your account is also converted, unless you ask for an invitation and another is sent out. For the obvious reasons, I'd like to avoid doing this, so I hope that once I'm able to switch to the new version of Blogger, the rest of you do so as well.

The new version addresses one of the biggest things lacking with Blogger vs. other blogging software, and that is labels or tags. After the switch, it'll be easy to categorize old and new posts alike to make searching for information and seeing each other's progress even easier.

For more information on what happens with group blogs and the new Blogger, please visit this help topic.

I tried switching to the new version of blogger today, but got a message saying one or more of my blogs did not support the new version. I take it that my involvement with Scarf Style/Wrap Style is the problem. No worries, I'll switch later.

    Susan,

My understanding is that only the blogs you own are the ones that "count" toward your eligibility. Whether or not the team blogs you are a part of are eligible to switch should have nothing to do with whether you can change your personal account. As I stated in the post (which is an iteration of what Blogger Help says), you will still be able to post to "old" style blogs if you have a new account.

I really, really want to be dropped from this blog. I really think it is what is keeping me from being able to switch over -- my blog is not large, and blogger inplies that size is probably the reason I can't switch over.

Blogger says only a team blog member with admin privleges can remove a member. So please remove me now.

    From blogger help:

"Only members with admin privileges on a blog can add or remove other members. If you would like to leave a team blog, please ask the owner or another admin member to remove you. If you have admin access to the blog, please see our article for details on removing a team member."

Not everyone can switch to the new Blogger for various reasons.

Please read the Blogger Help post I linked to. I am also researching the issue.

I was able to convert my blogs (main and gallery) to new blogger and am a member here. The blogs I admin were switched without a problem.
