Hello from Czech Republic.
Unlike many of you I decided NOT to start with Ruffles (although I was tempted :-) and went for Lady Eleanor Entrelac Stole.
It looks rather different from the original since I used totally different yarn (in color, quality and gauge) but I really like it anyway.

Well, I rarely follow the instructions exactly when knitting so I didn´t do any complicated calculations. I know from my previous projects that entrelac is wider than normal stich and you need only 2/3 of stiches to get the same width as when knitting „normally“. Therefore I just made a calculation how many stiches I need to get roughly same width and that was it.
The only real problem was the fringe. My yarn is much thinner than original one and when I tried to make a fringe the way it is made in the book it was too thin and didn´t look nice at all. So in the end I crocheted it instead and it looks just fine.
